Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder’s first “official trailer” – not to be confused with captions that dropped more than a month ago – was released tonight during the NBA Eastern Conference Finals on ESPN.
While what you read gave us our first impression of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster holding a hammer, tonight’s official trailer gives us our first glimpse of Christian Bale’s much-anticipated curve as baddie Gorr the God Butcher.
There’s also a compelling transition “from dad to God bod” as Thor returns to action after his pizza and beer class.
Mixed with myths, the new film includes a trip to Olympus where we see Zeus (Russell Crowe) talking to his favorite crowd, thunder in his hand, Tessa Thompson King Valkyrie battling Gorr with a thunderstorm in his hand, Thor released and bound – very slowly. well – with his coat of Zeus and finally Odin’s son Stormbreaker wild, a powerful ax with a handle made by Groot’s arm.
Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, Thor: Love and Thunder opened at U.S. theaters. July 8th.
